Taco Bell is set to open a restaurant at Paulstown on the Waterford to Dublin motorway

Plans have been confirmed for Taco Bell to open a restaurant on the Waterford to Dublin motorway.

The American fast food giant is set to open a restaurant at the Applegreen Service Station in Paulstown, County Kilkenny.

Applegreen has announced its intention for the restaurant to open before the end of the year, along with three other new restaurants nationwide.

The expansion is expected to create approximately 80 jobs across the four restaurants.

Taco Bell had long been rumoured to be opening a restaurant at Paulstown, with recruitment already underway for the new restaurant.

An official opening date has yet to be formally announced by either Taco Bell or Applegreen.

Applegreen announced its partnership with Taco Bell in May 2025, revealing plans to introduce the US brand at a number of its Irish locations over a five-year period.

Ireland’s first Taco Bell subsequently opened at Applegreen's new €15 million M3 service area in Dunshaughlin, County Meath, in 2025.

The forecourt operator later expanded the brand to its Lusk Northbound location on the M1 in Dublin and to Ballincollig in County Cork.

The brand itself is one of the world’s largest Mexican-inspired fast-food chains, with more than 8,700 restaurants worldwide.
