A decision by Waterford City and County Council is expected by August 24

Plans have been revealed for the construction of additional padel courts at an already popular Waterford city location.

The Woodlands Hotel & Leisure Club has submitted an application for the development on its grounds on the Dunmore Road.

The application reveals plans for two additional padel courts to add the four existing courts at the back of the leisure centre.

Each of the two additional courts would be enclosed with fencing of six metre high tempered glass, steel mesh and netting.

16 Filux 200w floodlights would be mounted on eight six-metre high lighting columns to downlight onto the two playing courts.

The operating hours would be between 8am to 10pm, seven days a week.

A number of associated siteworks, including on footpaths, security gates and security fencing, would also be carried out.

The outdoor sports facility would be part of, and associated with, the existing Woodlands Health and Leisure Club.

Access to the outdoor facility would be through the entrance and corridor of the existing health and leisure club.

The application was formally submitted by Dunmore Leisure Company Ltd on June 30 and is currently at the pre-validation stage.

If deemed valid, a decision by Waterford City and County Council is expected by August 24.
