Waterford senior football champions Rathgormack GAA are seeking permission for the development
A GAA club in County Waterford is seeking planning permission for a major redevelopment of its club grounds.
A planning application has been submitted by Rathgormack GAA Club in relation to its plans for its ground at an address of Ballinafina, Rathgormack, Carrick-on-Suir.
Permission is being sought for the construction of a single storey exercise studio/community activity space adjacent to the existing clubhouse.
There are also plans for the construction of a single storey extension to the rear of the existing clubhouse to include a meeting/community room, accessible showers and a referees room.
As well as that, the Waterford senior football champions are seeking permission for the construction of a single storey storage shed adjacent to the existing clubhouse.
Works would also include the replacement and relocation of the existing septic tank with a new effluent treatment system and percolation area.
Furthermore, a number of associated site works would be carried out.
The planning application was by Rathgormack GAA Club on Thursday, October 29 and is currently at the pre-validation stage.
If deemed valid, a decision by Waterford City and County Council is expected by December 23.
The news comes just over a week after Rathgormack were crowned Waterford senior football champions for the fourth year in a row.
The north County Waterford side overcame The Nire on a scoreline of 2-19 to 0-10 on Sunday, October 25.
