Ballygunner will face Limerick side Kilmallock at Azzurri Walsh Park next month

Waterford hurling kingpins Ballygunner will face Limerick champions Kilmallock in the Munster Club Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Final.

The Gunners will face the Limerick side at Azzurri Walsh Park on Sunday, November 15.

Ballygunner’s opponents were confirmed after Kilmallock overcame Na Piarsaigh in the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship Final on Sunday last.

Kilmallock claimed the Limerick crown for the first time in five years after a stunning three-point win at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

Ballygunner retained the Waterford title for the 13th consecutive year following a narrow victory over Fourmilewater back in August.

Jason Ryan’s side will now set out to retain their Munster and All-Ireland crowns.

The Gunners have knocked the Limerick champions out of the Munster Championship every year for the past seven years.

That includes a Munster Final victory over Kilmallock in 2022, when the Waterford champions ran out 14 point winners.

Whilst that game was played at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Ballygunner have faced the Limerick champions at the TUS Gaelic Grounds in each of the past four seasons.

This year’s encounter will mark the first time the Gunners have had home advantage in the fixture since 2019.
