Two learner drivers had their cars seized after being caught driving unaccompanied in County Waterford.

An Garda Síochána detailed the incidents in a post on their Facebook page.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí attached to Tramore Garda Station carried out a checkpoint today and although it was a lovely day for a drive, you must have a licenced driver with you if you are a learner driver.

“Two drivers had their cars seized today under Section 41 RTA. “Court proceedings to follow. Know the law, don't take the risk.”

Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 allows Gardaí to seize a vehicle where a learner permit holder is seen to be driving without being accompanied by a qualified driver.
