Goals from Ilias Bronkhorst and Bali Mumba either side of Joe Taylor’s brace made the difference for the Terriers.

Neither manager was left terribly satisfied with what they saw from their respective sides at Accu Stadium, despite high-flying Huddersfield running out 4-1 winners over strugglers Peterborough.

Goals from Ilias Bronkhorst and Bali Mumba either side of Joe Taylor’s brace made the difference for the Terriers, despite Harry Leonard briefly giving the visitors hope by pulling it back to 2-1.

Huddersfield head coach Martin Drury said: “I didn’t enjoy it – my heart rate didn’t enjoy it!

“First half we looked a bit tired, mentally, and some of our decision-making was not what it normally is. We didn’t hurt the opponent in the first half as much as we’d like to.

“We talked about that at half-time and I felt the players made a really positive response to that.

“I didn’t think it was a perfect performance, far from it, and we were nowhere near our best, but we had enough moments of quality to win us the game and that’s credit to the players, nobody else.

“It’s probably a gauge of where we’re at that the players are a bit flat and down in the dressing room – if they can feel like that after we’ve won 4-1, then I think that’s a positive sign.

“The nature of this league is you have to go Saturday-Tuesday and you have to find a way.

“But I accept that second half we had a response and the quality of the goals we score is credit to them. They were very very well taken.”

Peterborough boss Robbie Savage said: “It was a game of moments, for sure.

“We were the front-footed side and, when the ball bounces near the halfway line, one of us has got to go and meet the ball. We take a step back, and that was the narrative of the game.

“They’d had a couple of chances but not really tested the goalkeeper at all. Neither team did in the first half. They probably had the better moments. Then second half they got the next goal.

“We got back in the game through Harry Leonard, and at that time the boys were going back to the halfway line saying, ‘listen, we can get something out of this game’.

“There was a real belief – then a minute later, we’re not tracking a runner off a ball down the side, ball across, 3-1, game done.

“This game of football is moments, and Joe Taylor’s taken his. We haven’t taken ours.

“It’s that quality in our final third, taking the wrong decisions, backward steps, playing sideways, playing backwards a lot tonight.

“That’s not us. We’ve got to be brave and more positive, and that’s what we’ve done in the first three games.”
