The hosts prevailed 3-0.

West Bromwich Albion head coach James Morrison praised his side for outrunning Millwall after a 3-0 win in the Sky Bet Championship at The Hawthorns.

Second-half goals from Isaac Price, Jayson Molumby and substitute Felix Horn Myhre extended Albion’s unbeaten run to six matches with 13 points from their last 18.

Albion created the most chances but had nothing to show for it before Price struck in the 51st minute.

Aune Heggebo headed over the bar and brushed the side netting and Callum Styles sliced comfortably wide.

Molumby forced the first serious save when Max Crocombe tipped over the midfielder’s 35-yard curling shot.

Price took a pass on the edge of the centre circle and drove forward before curling a superb sidefooted effort into the bottom corner of the net from 25 yards.

The unmarked Molumby made it 2-0 in the 78th minute, tapping home after Crocombe failed to hold Myhre’s cross.

Myhre scored the goal of the game in the 89th minute.

Substitute Kareem Tunde beat two Millwall players before finding Price, who picked out Myhre at the far post to steer home.

Morrison said: “The first half was OK but we lacked composure in the final third because of a few structural issues but we sorted that out at half-time.

“One of our strengths is the energy and running power and we just outran them and played some nice football.

“The subs made a big impact which was important in a three-game week.

Morrison reckons this Albion outworks the side he played in that won the Championship in 2007-08 under Tony Mowbray.

He added: “We didn’t compete as well as these lads did. They’re unbelievable.

“I really do think that’s a strength of them – how far they run, how they compete.

“Way above what we did, consistently as well. Jayson Molumby has just banged it out three times in a week so all credit to him. Him and Ossie (Ousmane Diakite) as well.

“I can’t ask for any more of them. We are in the top three for running stats in the division.”

Millwall head coach Alex Neil said: “I was disappointed and frustrated.

“They had the first chance with Heggebo and he flicked it over the bar, then Josh Coburn had a chance but he couldn’t sort his feet out to score.

“So the first half was pretty even. They probably had more control but we contained them pretty well.

“For their second goal it was two defenders versus their attacker and we got into a muddle.

“The biggest frustration was from 2-0 onwards. There was no structure and no discipline and we started running about all over the place.

“It went from a relatively competitive game into looking like a little bit of a mess.

“Their third goal too – it was our corner and we had a man on the edge of the box, their lad rolled us, we had two against one down the line, we had three defenders in the box and they picked the spare man out to score.”
