Late Mansfield goals from Rhys Oates and Jordan Bowery ended the plucky FA Cup resistance of National League North Macclesfield.

Nathan Moriah-Welsh gave Mansfield a first-half lead but the Silkmen were still in the tie under Oates made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute.

Bowery added a third three minutes into added time to wrap up victory for the Stags.

Michael Smith forced a low save from Christian Dibble before the Stags took the lead in the 21st minute. Regan Hendry sent Oates away down the left. He pulled back a low cross which Moriah-Wesh tucked away from 12 yards.

The Silkmen almost levelled from a 40th-minute counter, Liam Roberts beating away Luke Duffy’s curling finish.

Dibble punched an Oates shot away and Hendry curled inches wide for the Stags just before half-time.

On the restart Moriah-Welsh was inches wide and Oates forced a save.

Oates was narrowly wide with a shot on the turn before doubling Mansfield’s lead. Smith won the ball on the right and curled a low cross to the far post where Oates bundled it in.

Stags finished strongly and Smith and Jordan Bowery went close before Tyler Roberts sent Bowery clear from the halfway line and he lifted a fine finish over Dibble.
