Gallery: Scoil Náisiúnta an Choimín pupils kept busy making St Bridget's crosses

The St Bridget's cross on this day is a traditional ritual in Ireland to celebrate the beginning of spring and this week the pupils in Glenfin got to work

With the winter finally over and spring in the air, Scoil Náisiúnta an Choimín in Glenfin pupils this week spent some time making St Bridget's crosses.

The cross is typically woven on 1 February, her feast day, as well as the festival of Imbolc in pre-Christian Ireland. Hanging Brigid's cross from the rafters of one's house was believed to bring the blessing and protection of the saint for the remainder of the year.
