‘Seven Things’ aims to explore the different things about Donegal and highlight the fascinating features of each.
The elements are not listed in order of importance and are not an all-inclusive list. The list indicates what each place, person or event offers, the various attractions, unique points, people and places worth knowing or remembering, hidden gems and an exploration of all things Donegal!
This week we are looking at road trips. The Wild Atlantic Way is ten years old, and it has brought visitors along many a twist and turn of the Donegal coast that they might not otherwise have discovered. And it is not only visitors who have been making their way to the secret corners of our incredible coastline. It has reminded those of us living here in Donegal that there is so much for us to explore, enjoy and appreciate on our own doorsteps.
But the Wild Atlantic Way is by no means the only road trip worth doing in the county. There are many fantastic routes for motorists and cyclists along the coast and inland too. Indeed, there are far too many to mention here, and this is by no means intended to be a comprehensive list, but rather a snapshot of what is there.
Some routes have names and signposts, others are based on local knowledge. All are well worth the trip.
