Norman Murray and Murdo Morrison have been missing for more than three weeks.

Two missing fishermen and their vessel have yet to be found despite the latest search and rescue efforts, Police Scotland have said.

Norman “Tam” Murray, 40 and Murdo Morrison, 23, and their boat, the Kilda, seemingly vanished on Tuesday October 13 off the Isle of Lewis and have yet to be found.

The body of crewmate Douglas Craigie, 49, was found at around 2.45am on Wednesday October 14.

A search of two sites identified as areas of interest was completed by Wednesday, Police Scotland said, with no trace of the men or the vessel.

The sites, east of the Butt of Lewis, were identified by the Northern Lighthouse Board vessel NLV Pharos.

The areas were examined with specialist equipment but the men remain unaccounted for and the exclusion zone has been lifted.

The Marine Accident Investigations Branch (MAIB) continues to look into the disappearance.

Inspector Neil Taylor of Police Scotland said: “Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic incident.

“We continue to work with partners, including the MAIB, Maritime and Coastguard Agency and local maritime experts to locate the Kilda and the two missing men.

“We are grateful for the support of all of our partners, including the NLV Pharos and staff from (seafood company) Mowi for their assistance with the search.”

The families of all the men have asked for privacy.
