WATCH: Laois GAA Club pitch issues raised in the European Parliament

Independent Cllr Caroline Dwane Stanley raised the issue as the club is at 'the heart of the community'

Watch as Cllr Caroline Dwane Stanley explains the importance of local GAA clubs at the European Parliament. 

Cllr Dwane Stanley was discussing local flooding events in Laois and their impact on Mountmellick and Portarlington.

She spoke of The Rock GAA grounds which were badly impacted with flooded pitches earlier this year.  Cllr Dwane Stanley previous raised the issue at the January meeting of Laois County Council. 

"Since Christmas the land beside The Rock GAA has been flooded. I'm asking if possible that the silt banks be removed and any obstructions. I ask Laois County Council to put forward a strong case. This is affecting a sports club and farmers," she said at the time.
