Dunmore MacHales mourn passing of Club legend John Coleman

Former Galway footballer John Coleman sadly passed away this week. Coleman proudly represented Galway at Under 16, Minor, Under 21 and Senior level, and was a valued member of the Galway team that captured the All-Ireland Junior Championship in 1985.
Coleman was at the heart of some of Dunmore MacHales most memorable successes, helping to secure the Galway Senior Football Championship title in 1983 and the Intermediate Championship in 1993. His commitment to the club went well beyond his playing days, as he also served as Senior Team Manager and Club Treasurer during the mid-1980s.
Dunmore MacHales released the following statement: “John's contribution to our club and to Gaelic football will never be forgotten. He will be remembered with immense respect, gratitude and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
“To his beloved wife Catherine, his children Michael, Mark and Sinéad, the Coleman and Walsh families, and his many friends, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathies at this difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam”
Through his career with AIB Bank, Coleman moved to Letterkenny where he became actively involved with St. Eunan's GAA Club. Despite living away from home, he never lost his deep affection for Dunmore, Galway or the Maroon & White.
Coleman was in attendance last Sunday afternoon where he witnessed Dunmore MacHales defeat Mountbellew Moylough and seal promotion into Division One football for 2027.
John Coleman will be reposing at his home in Letterkenny, F92VPK3 this Wednesday June 24th from 3pm until 8pm. Removal on Thursday to The Church Of Our Lady & St. Nicholas, Dunmore, H54Y573 with arrival at 1:30pm, where personal condolences can be offered inside the Church to John’s family. Funeral mass at 3pm with burial afterwards in Dunmore cemetery.
