EAMONN FITZMAURICE has added highly regarded basketball coach Ciaran O’Sullivan to his Galway Senior Football backroom team for the 2027 season, with the Cork native bringing a wealth of coaching experience to the Tribesmen’s set-up.

FITZMAURICE previously worked with Ciaran O’Sullivan during his time in charge of the Kerry senior footballers, with the Cork native now confirmed as part of the Galway set-up for next season.

The Irish Examiner reported that O’Sullivan was set to join the Galway senior football management team. O’Sullivan was named Superleague Coach of the Year last year after guiding Ballincollig to National Cup and League success. He had also been linked with a role as part of Andy McEntee’s proposed management team in Monaghan.

O’Sullivan is also part of Michael Bree’s Irish men’s international basketball management team and will remain as Ballincollig head coach. Initially, his involvement with Galway will be limited to one session per week, with his role expected to increase in the build-up to the Connacht Championship.

The Cork native joins David Morris, Lisa Fallon, Kevin Johnson, Gareth Bradshaw and Gary O’Donnell as part of Fitzmaurice’s management team.

Fallon will take up a coaching role with Galway and was previously part of the Galway United coaching set-up alopngside John Caufield. She has also worked with Chelsea Women, Northern Ireland and Cork City. The UEFA Pro Licence holder previously worked with the Dublin senior footballers during Jim Gavin’s time in charge.

Morris will continue his role as part of the Galway senior football backroom team, having been involved in Padraic Joyce’s management set-up over the past two seasons. Joyce added the Corofin clubman to his backroom team in 2025.

Galway U20 football manager Kevin Johnson will also join Fitzmaurice’s team. Johnson has guided Tourlestrane, Ballintubber and Corofin to county titles and was also involved with Leitrim Gaels in a coaching capacity when they won the Leitrim SFC last year. Johnson has now stepped down as Galway U20 football manager and his replacement is set to be announced in the coming weeks.

This will be former Galway footballers Gareth Bradshaw and Gary O’Donnell’s first involvement in an inter-county senior management set-up. Bradshaw gained coaching experience as part of Derek Savage’s management team with the Galway U20s, while O’Donnell was involved with the Galway minor footballers under Neil McHugh.
