A week warning has been issued forecasting tropical days and nights

Met Eireann has updated its heatwave timeline forecast as Ireland is set to experience a ten day weather event ‘not often seen’.

The National Forecaster already has a six day weather advisory in place which starts on Wednesday and will run until next Tuesday warning of 30C days from Friday onwards and tropical nights too.

Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly has been raving at the thoughts of the latest forecast telling his followers: “Not often we see such a long dry spell forecast for Ireland. We could see this warm dry spell last 10 days or more.”

The advisory also warns of thunderstorms later this week as temperatures hit 30C and possible over on Friday and Saturday.

For Wednesday, Met Eireann is forecasting: “Rather cloudy to begin across Atlantic counties with drizzle on northwest fringes, patches of mist and fog in places too.

“However, sunnier skies will develop widely as low cloud burns away. Another very warm or hot day for the Midlands, South and East with highest temperatures of 23 to 27 28 degrees.

“Highest temperatures of 17 to 24 degrees elsewhere, warmest inland away from coasts, where low cloud and mist will linger.”

It will be generally dry on Wednesday night with clear spells, though mist and coastal fog will develop in parts with temperatures of 16C.

For Thursday they added: “A similar day for Thursday in near calm. Very warm or hot, as well as mostly sunny across the Midlands, South and East with highs of 24 to 28 degrees.

“Cloudier to begin elsewhere with perhaps the odd spot of drizzle. Mist and fog in places to begin too, though tending to burn off. Highest temperatures of 18 to 25 degrees, warmest away from coasts.”

They added: “Becoming warmer or hotter as the week goes on. Mostly dry and sunny by day with warm nights too.

“Thursday night: Very mild and humid with temperatures holding between 13 and 17 degrees. Some mist or fog for west and northwest areas, otherwise dry with clear spells and just light northerly or variable breezes.”
