Minister to inspect flood prone areas of South Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Minster Brian Hayes is to visit South Galway tomorrow (Apr 7) where he will inspect some of the areas most prone to recent flooding.

The Minister of State with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works will travel to Kilcolgan, Ardrahan and Tarmon tomorrow morning.These areas were hit hard by flooding during prolonged periods of severe weather and heavy rainfall in January and February, with some families forced to leave their homes.Fine Gael Cllr Bridie Willers was one of those who had to vacate her home in Ardrahan.She says flood defences must be tackled once and for all and while she welcomes the Minister's visit, she says it should have happened much sooner before waters receded.
