Tuam Council warned to stay within budget
Galway Bay fm newsroom - Tuam Town Council has been warned to stay within its budget.
The message was given by Director of Services Liam Gavin at this week's meeting of the town council.
When Cllr Martin Ward said that approximately €12,000 in Notice of Motion money might be needed from Co Councillors for road repairs leading to a proposed memorial at the former children’s home Liam Gavin replied that this money was usually only for repairs to public roads.
He agreed that the town board should give €2,000, as previously announced, for a memorial plaque at the former home and he also agreed that €1,000 be given to the Parkmore Residents Association for works at their estate.
Cllr Pat O’Hora suggested that a grant of €1,500 be given to the Tidy Towns Committee for enhancement work
While Liam Gavin agreed that a proposal for hanging baskets in The Square, as suggested by a deputation from the Tidy Towns Committee, was a good one they will have to wait until the next meeting to see what money is left in the budget for that.
