ALERT: Do not swim notice put in place for Mayo beach

High levels of elevated bacteria after testing prompted the closure, which came into effect immediately
Mayo County Council have urged those heading for sea swimming in the north of the county to avoid one spot at present after elevated levels of bacteria were recorded in the water.
The do not swim notice was served on Ross Beach in Killala, a popular location in the north of the county.
The notice commenced yesterday (Thursday, September 3).
The Council has advised that further water samples will be arranged. An update will be provided via their social media channels when the results of said tests are received.
