Bea Nally

Cullatinny, Knock

The death took place recently of Bridget Nally, Cullatinny, Knock. She was known to all as Bea and was formerly Finn from Lakehill, Knock. Bea was the last surviving member of the Finn family having been predeceased by her brothers Paddy (Knock) and Tom (England).

One of the most senior residents of the region, Bea was 97 years old. She married Michael Nally, and they raised a family of six, four daughters and two sons. Hard work was second nature to her. Around the home and out on the land, Bea did what had to be done and was never one for complaining no matter what the chore.

She was happy and content in her home and had no great interest in going out for social occasions. She loved to see family and friends call around to visit and enjoyed sharing memories of old times with them all. The ordinary everyday things were what mattered most to Bea.

In, more recent years, she took a keen interest in television and was an ardent follower of programmes like Coronation Street and Fair City.

In earlier years, she walked to the regular Sunday Mass in Shanvaghera while later times saw her attend church services in Knock. She was a woman of strong faith all her life.

She resided with her son Michael and wife Josie and family for many years where she received the best of care. The last four years of her life were spent in the kind care of the staff at the Brookvale Nursing Home in Ballyhaunis where she died peacefully.

Removal took place from the Marian Funeral Home to Knock Church with burial in the local cemetery following Requiem Mass celebrated by Fr Richard Gibbons.

Bea, who was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1970, is survived by her family, Mary (London), Margaret, Noreen and Kathleen (New York), Jimmy (Boston) and Michael (Cullatinny), in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.
