Bus Éireann urges passengers to check updates ahead of Storm Austen
Services are scheduled to operate as normal, but strong winds and heavy rain could cause disruption
Bus Éireann is advising passengers to check service updates before travelling as Storm Austen is forecast to bring strong winds and heavy rain across Ireland from this evening and into the weekend.
The transport operator has confirmed that all services are scheduled to operate as normal, but warned that adverse weather conditions could affect journeys in the coming days.
Met Éireann has forecast difficult driving conditions, with the potential for flooding, debris and fallen trees on roads.
Bus Éireann Chief Customer Officer Allen Parker said passengers should keep up to date with the latest information before setting out on their journeys.
“Met Éireann is forecasting difficult driving conditions as strong winds and heavy rain cross the country from this evening, and into the weekend as well,” he said.
He added that while services were expected to run as normal, any disruption caused by the storm would be communicated online as quickly as possible.
“The best approach would be to check service updates on our website before leaving home, to minimise any potential disruption,” Mr Parker said.
Mayo passengers are encouraged to check the latest information before travelling, particularly as weather conditions may change.
The latest service updates are available on the Bus Éireann website.
