Illegal fireworks seized in Mayo highlight public safety concerns

Gardaí have seized a quantity of illegal fireworks in Ballina as part of ongoing efforts to protect the local community.
The seizure was carried out by members of the Mayo Divisional Drugs Unit, working alongside Gardaí attached to the Ballina Community Engagement area.
An Garda Síochána said the operation highlighted the importance of community engagement and cooperation in tackling the possession and misuse of illegal fireworks.
Gardaí warned that illegal fireworks can pose serious risks to public safety, potentially causing injuries, fires and distress to people in the community.
The public is being encouraged to report any information relating to the sale, possession or misuse of illegal fireworks to An Garda Síochána.
