Thirty Mayo festival groups successful in securing Fáilte Ireland funding in 2026

Mayo County Council announce new tourism grant to mark 20th anniversary of Community Futures
Thirty organisations around Mayo were successful in applying for funding from a Fáilte Ireland fund for festivals which are to take place across the county this summer.
Earlier this year, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke TD, announced a combined €933,250 in funding to Fáilte Ireland for tourism festivals across Ireland in 2026.
The 2026 Regional Festivals Fund is managed by local authorities nationwide and Mayo County Council announced they received €32,500 from the fund of €623,250.
This fund was advertised locally and over 40 applications were received and out of that total 30 applications were successful.
Mayo County Council also confirmed that they received an additional fund of €10,000 from Fáilte Ireland for 2026 to support established food festivals that ‘contribute to local economic activity, celebrate Ireland’s culinary strengths, and attract domestic and international visitors’.
The tourism section of Mayo County Council also announced a new grant is available to groups who have completed the Community Futures process. The grant is available for 2026 only to mark the 20th year anniversary of the Community Futures programme grant and will fund any tourism themed action from their Action Plan. The total fund is €20,000 and will be allocated as four grants of €5,000.
In a tourism report ahead of the monthly meeting of Castlebar Municipal District next Wednesday, the tourism section confirmed they are promoting Mayo in local, national and international newspaper and tourism magazines and are working with influencers, and journalists to promote and highlight premier places to visit as a tourist in Mayo.
