Moirai’ takes Best in Show with their innovative digital and print project
Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) says it is "delighted" to congratulate the creative media student team ‘Moirai’ for winning FIS 2024 Best in Show with their innovative digital and print project.
This year’s showcase, FIS 2024, featured the creative and innovative work of students from the BA and BA (Hons) Creative Media course. The judges said they were highly impressed, noting that it was incredibly hard to pick a winner due to the outstanding quality of all entries. The winning project by ‘Moirai’ was an interactive printed poster, blending traditional and futuristic methods of graphic design.
The winning team ‘Moirai’ included Pavla Vesela, Magdalena Kamaradova, Sean Markey and Ciaran Nugent. The goal of “Moirai” was to offer an engaging and thought-provoking platform for self-reflection. The project invited participants on a journey of self-discovery through an interactive questionnaire.
The project prompted individuals to reflect on their daily habits and decisions. Using a beautiful hand-printed document, they answer 20 questions to unveil insights into their personality type. Finally using augmented reality (AR), participants can scan their results to reveal additional information and visual effects, overall creating an immersive and visually captivating experience.
JJ Quinlan, Creative Media Lecture DkIT said, “I'm so happy for all the final year Creative Media students who have done so well with their projects, we’re thrilled to showcase the work of our amazing students, who began their journey during COVID-19 and have excelled through teamwork and resilience.
"It's been a pleasure teaching such innovative individuals. Our graduates should take pride in your achievements and give themselves a well-deserved round of applause. The ‘Moirai’ project won because it was a brave project to do, showing really interesting ways of printing using innovative modern methods, it was well executed and showed great research.”
DkIT said it would like to offer a special "thank you" to all its esteemed judges at the showcase which included, Robin O'Leary, Digital Content Producer, STATSports, Chris Lynch, Head Designer, STATSports and Paul Gonnelly, Motion Designer, Virgin Media Television.
