Seven-course dining experience will showcase local produce during Boyne Valley Dining Week

Louth chef Jennifer Provan will host an intimate seven-course dining experience at the Oriel Centre at Dundalk Gaol on Thursday, 15 October, as part of Boyne Valley Dining Week.

Beginning at 7pm and limited to 30 guests, The Boyne Valley Table at Dundalk Gaol will celebrate the food and drink of Louth and Meath through a menu shaped by the produce of the region. An optional wine pairing, selected by Rodney J. Leonard of Leonard’s Fine Wines in Trim, Co. Meath, will accompany the menu.

The seven-course menu will feature ingredients from across the Boyne Valley region, including Carlingford Oysters, Dunany Flour, Silks Irish Dry Gin from Boann Distillery, beef from White’s Family Butchers in Bellurgan and organic salad leaves from Coole Farm in Ardee.

The evening will be hosted by Jennifer Provan, Chef and Creative Director of Kitchenetta Catering, based on her family farm in Ballymascanlon on the Cooley Peninsula. Kitchenetta creates bespoke dining experiences for weddings, celebrations and special events of all sizes, from intimate dinners to large gatherings, using seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers wherever possible.

Jennifer studied Hospitality Management before completing a postgraduate diploma in Gastronomy at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.

She spent 22 years in Scotland, where she established a catering business and the Kitchenetta café and deli, before returning to Louth with her husband to develop Kitchenetta from the family farm.

Since returning home, Jennifer has worked closely with growers, producers and food businesses across the region. She is a member of the board of Boyne Valley Flavours, which organises Boyne Valley Dining Week, and she took part in the ACORNS programme, designed to support early-stage female entrepreneurs in rural Ireland.

Jennifer Provan said: “The Boyne Valley is a world-class food destination, with fantastic produce being grown and made throughout Louth and Meath.

“Returning home gave me the opportunity to build Kitchenetta around the ingredients and producers right on my doorstep. The Boyne Valley Table at Dundalk Gaol is a chance to bring some of that produce together in a creative seven-course menu and serve it in one of Dundalk’s most historic buildings. With only 30 guests, it will be a very special evening, and I’m delighted to be hosting it as part of Boyne Valley Dining Week.”

Boyne Valley Dining Week runs from 9 - 18 October, bringing together growers, producers and food businesses from across Louth and Meath.

Presented by Boyne Valley Flavours, the programme includes seasonal menus, specially created dishes, drinks pairings, tastings and dining events highlighting the people and produce behind the region’s food scene.

Earlier in Boyne Valley Dining Week, Jennifer will also host the sold-out pop-up dining event A Seat at the Table at Moore’s in Trim on Saturday, 10 October.

She will also host a series of Christmas cookery classes from her home kitchen in Ballymascanlon during November and December, with places already selling quickly.

Tickets for The Boyne Valley Table at Dundalk Gaol cost €105 per person, with an optional wine pairing available for €35, and can be booked via Eventbrite.ie
