St. Mary’s National School in Knockbridge is celebrating the opening of a new outdoor classroom and sensory garden this Sunday with a ‘Monster Ball Run’.

This comes after successfully raising over €10,000 to fund the build.

The event features over 1,000 balls, each ball represents a donation from families, friends and community members, with top cash prizes up for grabs alongside vouchers generously donated by local businesses as well as gifts.

The outdoor classroom was built by a team of volunteers; Dads, grandads, uncles and friends of the students who attend the school, who gave up their summer to build an amazing classroom and sensory garden.

Andrea McKevitt, Cathaoirleach of the Dundalk Municipal District, will be on hand to make a short speech and officially open the facility alongside school principal Brian McDonnell and Fr Gerry praying a blessing over the build.

Members of the community, past pupils, and supporters are warmly invited to attend the celebrations and witness the ball run live, along with an opportunity for children to dress up with lots of raffle prizes available on the day.
