A FRIEND of Lee Reeves has shared that the popular Limerick boxer has been brought out of bed for physio treatment.

Former boxer and friend of Lee’s, Jonathan O’Brien shared the “bit of good news” on his social media this Friday, October 16.

Jonathan explained that Lee’s family members rang him yesterday to let him know that Lee got the “special chair” that he needs for physio treatment.

Lee, who had been in hospital in Dublin since being knocked out in a fight at the 3Arena on August 1, has recently been transferred to University Hospital Limerick.

“They were able to do the physio with Lee yesterday out of the bed. They had him out of bed for about 25-30 minutes,” Jonathan said.

“He’s still not around, he’s not awake like, but the physio stimulates the brain. You have to keep working on the physio, keep stimulating the brain, letting him listen to music.”

Jonathan shared that the Roxboro man is scheduled to get an MRI scan and bloods done on Monday.

He added that it’s “a tough one for the family”.

“It’s hard for them, it’s hard for everybody that’s involved.”

He praised Lee and all the good things he’s done for people, explaining that he “never would have bragged”.

Jonathan shared that he “did an extra prayer” this morning for Lee, adding: “Lee needs the power of prayers guys, he really, really needs a miracle.”

Meanwhile, Lee’s sister Shannon has made an emotional plea encouraging the boxer to keep fighting, as he continues his recovery in hospital.

Lee’s family and friends continue their bedside vigil during this difficult time.

Shannon has shared a series of heartfelt messages on Instagram, expressing her love for her brother and emphasising how important he is to the family.

“My brother, my life. The glue to our whole family.

“Can’t wait to have you back home giving out and giving the boys speeches about healthy eating, doing homework and not being on their PlayStation.”

Shannon continued her message by urging her brother to remain strong, reminding him that he has the support of his family behind him.

“Come on, we got your back, we are your voice. You got this brother, time to come home to us.

She finished the post with a short but powerful message, adding: “We need you.”

Shannon also shared a number of touching photographs of Lee with different family members on her social media, alongside many childhood photographs.

The friends and family of the boxer have decided to keep up his GoFundMe page to help Lee with his recovery.

Just over €120,000 has been raised on the page.
