Kate springs for summer suiting at Wimbledon

The Princess of Wales surprised tennis fans in the Wimbledon ticket queue wearing a summery blue suit.
The Princess of Wales has made her first appearance at this year’s Wimbledon Championships in vibrant blue tailoring.
Kate has been a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), where Wimbledon is held, since 2016, meaning she’s a familiar face at the annual tennis tournament – and it’s been the site of some of her most best fashion moments.

She kicked off her first (and likely not her last) visit to the tennis this year in crisp tailoring: a blue two-piece with loose, wide-leg trousers and a plain white top underneath.
Kate surprised tennis fans who had queued for hours in the hopes of securing a ticket to Wimbledon, speaking to the hopeful attendees – some of whom had been waiting outside since as early as 4am.

She paired her blue suit with a high ponytail and statement drop gold earrings with blue and white stones, to tie in with her look.
Bright colours are Kate’s bread and butter at Wimbledon – during her last visit in 2025, she presented Jannik Sinner with the Gentlemen’s Singles Trophy in a bright blue midaxi dress by one of her go-to designers, Roksanda.

But suiting is a bit out of the ordinary for Kate’s Wimbledon fashion, which tends to focus on bright and classic dresses.
The closest the Princess of Wales has got to a tailored look was in 2023, when she donned an Eighties-inspired pale green Balmain blazer with statement shoulders and a tennis-inspired white pleated midi skirt.

That’s not to say Kate, who successfully completed the Three Peaks Challenge over the weekend, is a stranger to sharp suiting. Earlier this year, she wore a sky-blue power suit during her visit to Italy, which marked her first solo overseas outing since her 2024 cancer diagnosis.
The suit was by Canadian-British designer Edeline Lee, and had a similar wide-leg silhouette to her Wimbledon look, but was paired with a crisp white shirt for a more formal feel.

Across other official visits, Kate has worn suits all colours of the rainbow – ranging from olive and red to electric purple and powder pink – but her Wimbledon outing was a more casual and relaxed take on tailoring. Her blue suit looked to be made of a summery, light linen-style material, and the white ribbed T-shirt underneath kept things nonchalant.
Who knows – maybe we’ll see Kate in more colourful tailoring as the Championships progress.
