MET Éireann has issued a status yellow rain warning for 11 counties, including Clare.
The forecaster says there will be spells "heavy and persistent" rain at times giving accumulative totals of between 30mm and 60mm in some locations.
The warning, which applies to Tipperary, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Donegal and all of Connacht, takes effect at midnight on Tuesday and will remain valid until 6am on Wednesday.
Met Éireann says potential impacts during the heavy rainfall include localised flooding and travel disruption.
"The rain will ease off for a time in many parts on Tuesday daytime, before heavy spells of rain return Tuesday evening and night," states the warning which was issued by Met Éireann this Monday morning.
