The confirmation comes at the latest Killaloe MD meeting

ONE greenway, which will link a number of Clare destinations to Limerick city, is entering its final draft stage.

The Limerick to Scariff Greenway is a 43km route which will connect the two places. A steering group has been established to deliver the project, including that of Waterways Ireland, TII, Clare County Council and Limerick City and County Council.

Confirmation of this final drafting stage comes after an update was requested at the latest Killaloe Municipal District (MD) council meeting by Cllr Pat Burke.

Brian McCarthy, senior planner and Killaloe MD coordinator, confirmed that Waterways Ireland have indicated “a preferred route corridor report is now at final draft stage”.

He said:  “Waterways Ireland will be holding a series of public consultation evenings to display the preferred route corridor in the coming weeks.

“When the public  consultation phase for the preferred route corridor is finalised, the project will progress to detailed design, approvals and delivery.”

Waterways Ireland are aiming to present an update to the elected members of Killaloe MD potentially at their next meeting in March.
