Car ends up on footpath after collision at busy Limerick junction

‘Miracle’ nobody was seriously injured or worse following collision on northside of Limerick city
A CAR ended up on a footpath following a collision at one of the busiest junctions in Limerick city.
The road traffic incident occurred at around 6pm on Tuesday at Union Cross - the intersection between Shelbourne Road and Ennis Road.
A garda spokesperson said no injuries were reported.
“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a two vehicle road traffic collision involving cars on Ennis Road, Limerick on Tuesday, August 4 shortly after 6pm,” said a garda spokesperson.
A person who came upon the scene and sent the photo (above) to Limerick Live said it was a “miracle” that nobody was waiting at the traffic lights when a car mounted the footpath.
“I don’t know how the crash happened. I only came across it when the car was up on the footpath. That is one of the busiest junctions in Limerick city and pedestrians are always waiting to get across.
“It was a nice evening last night so people were out for walks and runs and taking their dogs out so it was a miracle that nobody was waiting to cross.
“It doesn’t bear thinking about what would have happened if a few people or children were on the footpath when the car mounted it. Everybody was out of the cars when I went past and thankfully there didn’t appear to be any injuries,” they told Limerick Live.
