Helpless Shetland pony abandoned and tied to pole on busy Limerick city street

Gardaí and onlookers at scene of 'horse outside'

SHOPPERS in Limerick city were saddened to see a Shetland pony abandoned on Thomas Street.

The “horse outside” was spotted tied up and seemingly abandoned before midday this Wednesday, with gardaí attending the scene.

A few onlookers gathered to find out what the commotion was, with one saying “he [the pony] looks helpless in the rain”.

“I’m worried about what will happen to him now. It is heartbreaking to see an animal abandoned like this,” they said.

Gardaí onsite, at the former Habit café on the corner of Catherine St and Thomas St, said they have contacted the pound to deal with the issue.
