Lee has been in hospital since being knocked out in a fight on August 1

LIMERICK boxer Lee Reeves is due to get an MRI this Monday morning following a high temperature over the weekend, a friend of his has said.

Former boxer and friend of Lee’s, Jonathan O’Brien, shared the update on his social media this Monday, October 19.

Jonathan explained that he spoke to members of Lee’s family last night to get an update.

“Lee had a temperature this weekend, so they were running getting a fan for his room,” he explained. “With him having a temperature, they did his bloods just to check to see if he was okay.”

The Roxboro native has been in hospital since August 1, when he was knocked out during a fight at the 3Arena. He was recently transferred to UHL from hospital in Dublin.

Jonathan added that the area where Lee’s brain was damaged during the fight is “not regulating,” so doctors had to check the 31-year-old’s bloods to make sure that he didn’t get an infection.

“A really bad infection could kill Lee so this is what they don’t want.”

The doctors were “all over it,” Jonathan said, and it turned out to be only a high temperature.

“They have the brain scan this morning,” he continued. “He’s getting an MRI scan this morning, and the team and the doctors and all will sit down with the family after all the results come back and they will chat about Lee going forward, what they think and stuff like that.”

“As I say, we say it all the time to yous, Lee needs a miracle,” Jonathan said, stressing the importance of “the power of prayers” and asking his followers to keep the GoFundMe page, set up to help Lee and his family, going.

“We just need everybody praying for Lee guys, just keep praying for Lee Reeves, we need to have the kid back to some kind of normality where we can give him some kind of a fighting chance to get back walking and talking and moving,” he continued.

“Lee’s a fighter, he’s not a quitter, he never was a quitter. He’s a positive kid so we all want to keep being positive.”
