High winds cause €12,000 worth of damage at Limerick GAA Club

Limerick hurler Diarmaid Byrnes lends his support to Kilteely-Domkeen GAA’s race night
A COUNTY Limerick GAA club had planned a fundraiser even before a storm caused €12,000 worth of damage.
Kilteely-Dromkeen GAA, Handball and Camogie Club is hosting a horse race night on Saturday, October 24 in The Street Bar in the village.

Club PRO James O’Regan said the fundraiser is now even more important due to strong wind damage recently.
“It means ball nets and poles now need to be urgently replaced at a cost of at least €12,000 with further upgrades planned such as lighting the new walkway and pitch / changing room improvements,” explained James.
Kilteely-Dromkeen GAA was delighted to welcome Limerick hurling hero Diarmaid Byrnes (pictured below) to their grounds to help launch the event.

James said the large number of juvenile players present were in awe as Diarmaid came around to each group.
“The Hurler of the Year nominee was very generous with his time, answering the children's questions and sharing some advice for the next generation of young hurlers and camógs.
“The six-time All-Ireland winner was very impressed with the pitch and facilities on his first visit and was delighted to help promote the club’s upcoming horse race night fundraiser,” said James.
The club are currently looking for sponsors to feature in the race night programme and will be promoted online also. For any individuals or businesses interested in supporting please email [email protected] or message 087 9646197.
