Lengthy road closure in Limerick town to facilitate 'manhole' works

MOTORISTS in Rathkeale are being advised to expect delays from this Monday morning due to major works at Lower Main Street in the centre of the town.
The R523 will be closed, from its junction with the R518 to its junction with the L-6158-47, until 5pm on Friday, December 9.
A public notice, published by Limerick City and County Council says the closure is to facilitate works to install a new manhole on the existing storm line.
Diversions will be in place and local traffic will be facilitated where possible.
Separately, emergency repair works will continue this week on the R518 (Bruff Line) at Ballyteige Lower - between O’Rourke’s Cross and Newcastle West.
A full road closure is place and the local authority says the works, which are needed due to storm damage, are likely to continue for several weeks.
Motorists are being advised that a detour is in place and that they should allow additional time for their journeys.
Local access will be facilitated where possible.
