IT’S BEEN a long journey to even get to the start of Ahane Camogie Club’s 12 hour spinathon fundraiser.

Like many events the annual festive event in Castleconnell fell by the wayside in 2020 due to Covid. It was due to take place last Christmas but a spike in Covid cases put a spoke in the wheel of plans.

But it is third time lucky for the camogie club as they get ready to pedal to the mettle this Friday, December 23.

The Limerick senior camogie champions will round off the year in style with the fundraising initiative in partnership with the Castleconnell Ahane Montpelier (CAM) Cancer Support Group.

All age groups will be taking part in the spinathon located outside the Shannon House Restaurant from 9am to 9pm.

Emer Kenny, club PRO, said they invite as many people as possible to come down and show their support during the day. You can also donate online here.

As well as helping to fund the day to day running of the club they want to support the fantastic work CAM Cancer Support Group does in the parish.

Tony Kenny, club chairman, said: “They help not only those who have been diagnosed with cancer but they also provide support for the families of those diagnosed with cancer. Many of our club members lives have been touched by cancer and the cause is very close to all our hearts. CAM have been such a great support to our community,” he said.
