Limerick community groups gear up for Going for Gold 2023

THE STARTING pistol has been fired as the Limerick competitors in this year’s Going for Gold competition begin showcasing the work done in their community over the last 12 months for a chance to win a massive €10,000.
Over the next few weeks, community groups across Limerick will put their best foot forward for the betterment of their local area as part of the Going for Gold Tidy Towns category.
There are a total of six categories in Going for Gold with a total prize fund of €60,000. The Limerick Leader will be focusing on the Tidy Towns category, highlighting six community groups each week over the next number of weeks until a winner of the competition is crowned.
In judging the competition, emphasis will be placed on litter control, general tidiness and upkeep, pollinator friendly planting, sustainable planting, overall impression, works undertaken/improvements from previous years (if applicable).
Each community group will also forward one member to appear on Live 95 every week to showcase why their area should win the competition.
Public voting will begin after the radio interviews. The community with the most votes will automatically advance to the grand final of the Going for Gold competition later this year.
Limerick Going for Gold is managed by Limerick City and County Council with sponsorship from JP McManus Charitable Foundation.
It is supported by Live 95, the Limerick Leader / Limerick Live, Limerick Post, I Love Limerick, Limerick City Centre Tidy Towns, Southern Media and Marketing Design and the Parkway Shopping Centre.
