Limerick teacher and great storyteller shares the tale of The Baking Hags

AUTHOR Eddie Lenihan has penned a new book featuring dragons, giants and monster moths.
Fionn Mac Cumhail and The Baking Hags tells the tale of lead character, Fionn, and his companions who have to deal with everyday terrors.
Will they be powerful enough when the wrath of the terrible sisters and baking hags is drawn on the people of Ireland by a careless error during the building of the new royal highway to the west? It appears that even the powers of the High King's own druid might not be enough.
Former English teacher at Laurel Hill in Limerick, Eddie Lenihan is best known as a storyteller.
He frequently visits schools, libraries, prisons, literary festivals - anywhere people are willing to sit a while to listen and reflect, as “their forebearers did when these stories were first told.”
The Clare man is the author of twenty books, including the fairy anthology Meeting the Other Crowd, In Search of Biddy Early, Defiant Irish Women, In the Tracks of the West Clare Railway, Irish Tales of Mystery and Magic, as well as a long series of children's books based on the adventures of Fionn Mac Cumhail.
After a “happy incident,” he began to tell stories to his own children in 1981, and the hero he chose was Fionn.
For almost fifty years, Eddie has been recording stories and lore in many parts of the country. Four CDs of these stories have been released by Claddagh Records.
Irish fairy stories are a huge part of his repertoire, but there are also historical tales, stories of notable persons, devil stories, accounts of saints, monsters, ogres, giants - and so many more.
The storyteller's travels have taken him as far as the USA where he visited over 40 states, but also to several countries in Europe and the UK.
Eddie's new book is available in local bookshops in Limerick.
