Masterclass to offer opportunity to young musicians in Limerick

A MASTERCLASS in Limerick will offer a "unique opportunity" for young musicians to work closely with three of the country’s most acclaimed traditional musicians.
For the second edition of a national series of masterclass and concert programmes, Music Generation and Belltable will welcome The Máirtín O’Connor Band to Limerick from Friday, April 5 to Sunday, May 7.
Young musicians and singers with a passion for creativity are invited to participate in this innovative programme, which will take place over three days.
A unique opportunity for young musicians and singers, the masterclass will see traditional musicians Máirtín O’Connor, Cathal Hayden and Seamie O’Dowd take participants on an adventure of musical discovery, which will end with a public performance.
On April 5 and May 6, the young musicians will have the opportunity to collaborate with The Máirtín O’Connor Band at the Music Limerick County’s premises in Croom.
They’ll get to arrange tunes and songs, explore accompaniment as well as improvisation and composition.
On Sunday, May 7, participants will get to share the stage with the artists with a live performance in Belltable.
Suitable for ages 14 to 18, the masterclass is open to all instrumentation of intermediate to advanced level, and singers with proficiency on an instrument are welcome to apply.
