Over €400,000 to be used for Limerick boxing club refurbishment

Southside Boxing Academy has operated since 2012
MAJOR refurbishment works have started at the home of Southside Boxing Academy in Galvone.
Limerick City and County Council’s Regeneration and Sports Department will have a Limerick-based firm, P.B.C. Ltd carry out the extensive work.
The €430,000 refurbishment project is being funded by the Economic and Social Intervention Fund (ESIF).
According to the Council, the roof will be replaced with a new insulated metal cladding system.
“The removal of a partition on site will ensure the club can grow its facilities and member numbers, with more room available to accommodate a second boxing ring and training areas,” the spokesperson said.
New heating, emergency doors and lighting will enhance the building while upgrades to the dressing room area, showers and toilet blocks will improve the facility greatly.
