Prestigious prize for Limerick medical firm

A MEDICAL firm based in Croom has been given a prestigious prize at a top industry ceremony.
Croom Medical, a contract manufacturer of orthopaedic implants and medical devices, was named the Medtech partner/supplier of the year at the 2023 Irish Medtech Awards.
Organised by the Irish Medtech Association, Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland, it took place in Galway.
Founded in 1984, Croom Medical works with a number of blue-chip medical firms, helping staff there increase production capacity, improve product quality and cut spend on manufacturing.
Located on the outskirts of Croom village on the Bruff Road, the number of staff in the company has grown from 45 in 2021 to 170 at present.
It has also recently invested €12m to improve its manufacturing capability.
Croom Medical chief executive Patrick Byrnes said: “We are honoured to receive the Irish Medtech partner/supplier of the year award. This achievement is a testament to our team’s dedication to innovation, quality, and collaboration.”
Croom Medical’s research team achieved a significant milestone with the release of its first titanium-based orthopaedic implant.
