A YOUNG man had his phone taken from him after arranging to sell the device online.

The 25-year-old advertised an iPhone for sale online and on Monday, August 21 at 11:30am he arranged to meet a prospective buyer in the city centre.

The buyer pulled up in a car and reached out to check the iPhone, suddenly he pulled away and drove off with the phone.

The seller was so shocked he did not manage to get the registration of the car or any identifying details of the driver.

Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street garda station said that CCTV has been monitored and gardai are investigating.

"If you are advertising an item online, you really do not know whom you are going to be dealing with so use caution and never go alone".
