FUNERAL arrangements have been announced for Limerick teacher Noreen Quealy (née Allis) who “touched the lives of so many young people.”

Mrs Quealy, known as Ms Allis by her students, worked in Catherine McAuley School, located on the South Circular Road, for approximately 13 years and was in charge of the Leaving Certificate Applied class prior to her sad passing.

The beloved teacher, of Bank Place, Doon, Limerick and late of Kilmoylan, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Mike, daughter Kate, sons Joe and Dan, parents Georgie and Mary, sisters Bríd Quirke and Marie Cribbin, brother George, parents-in-law Marty and Vinnie, brothers-in-law Seamus, Colm, Tom, Martin and Peadar, sisters-in-law Joanie, Mary, Jane, Anne and Helen, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours, colleagues in Catherine McAuley School and many friends.

Commenting on the tragic news, a spokesperson for Oola GAA and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association said on social media: “Noreen was a much-loved and familiar face in our community, through the countless hours she spent on the sideline supporting her family.

“For so many of us, Noreen was simply always there. Whether it was football, hurling, camogie or soccer, she could be found on the sideline proudly supporting Kate, Joe and Dan. Through wins and losses, good days and difficult days, she never stopped showing up, encouraging them and sharing in every moment.

“That quiet, unwavering support is something that will never be forgotten. Noreen was immensely proud of her children, and it was so clear to everyone around her.

“The familiar sight of her on the sideline, watching, cheering and encouraging, will be deeply missed.

“Through her work as a teacher, Noreen also touched the lives of so many young people, giving her time, care and kindness to those in her classroom. Her impact reached far beyond her own family and will be remembered by many,” the statement concluded.

A spokesperson for Catherine McAuley School said on social media: “We continue to keep Noreen’s family, friends, colleagues and all who loved her in our thoughts and prayers at this deeply difficult time.”

Noreen Quealy will repose at Whites Funeral Home in Doon on Wednesday evening, August 12 from 5pm to 7:30 pm. She will arrive in St Patrick’s Church, Doon on Thursday morning for Requiem Mass at 11:30 am with burial afterwards in Doon cemetery.

The house is to be private and no flowers are requested but instead, donations, if desired, can go to Milford Care Centre.
