Rugby star makes heartwarming gesture to brave Limerick teen

Munster and Ireland scrum-half Craig Casey visits young Limerick man to gift him jersey and boots
ONE MUNSTER and Ireland rugby star made a special amicable effort with a young man from Limerick who was diagnosed with Melanoma last year.
Craig Casey visited Bruff to meet teenager Jack Freeney who had brain surgery last year after a Melanoma diagnosis.
The well-known scrum-half presented Jack with one of his Irish jerseys and a pair of boots.
Jack is a member of Bruff RFC and plays rugby. An avid fan, this isn’t the first time Jack met with a rugby legend as he received a visit from former Munster captain Peter O’Mahony while receiving treatment in Cork University Hospital last September.
Thanking Craig Casey on Facebook and posting pictures of the pair, Bruff RFC said: “Thanks so much to Craig Casey who called out to see Jack last night and presented him with his Irish Jersey and a pair of boots.
“Craig was lucky enough to receive a Bruff jersey in return Thanks to Paul Collins for organising.”
Garnering much traction online, the post got over 250 likes with people leaving comments such as “brilliant”, “fair play” and “lovely photos”.
Craig Casey will be sitting out of the Six Nations, starting on January 31, after Munster confirmed in December 2024 that he will miss “approximately four months” following knee surgery.
He will miss out on playing in Ireland v England on February 1, where the boys in green will take to the Aviva Stadium for the highly-anticipated, high-profile game at 4:45pm kickoff.
