Submissions sought on proposed traffic calming measures in Limerick village

Observations are being sought on proposed traffic calming measures for L1135 Pallasgreen
MEMBERS of the public are being invited to submit their observations on proposals to change the road layout on a busy road approaching Pallasgreen village.
In a public notice, Limerick City and County Council says the proposed amendments will include the installation of new traffic calming islands, new cushion ramps, new signage, new road markings and public lighting.
The planned works, at the L1135, are being progressed by the local authority to improve traffic calming in the village.
One third party submission, which has already been received, is critical of the planned works. “Proposals for Traffic calming on route L1135 are entirely inadequate for residents in the core of the village where locals are asking for a pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of the old post house.
“Several residents need to cross the road here to use the only footpath on the opposite side of their dwellings.”
The submission adds that the installation of speed ramps in the vicinity of the old post house would be “a little more than a cosmetic exercise,” with the local resident adding: “The usual scenario here is for drivers coming off the N24 to accelerate and many clearly exceed the speed limit, especially at evening rush hour”. The submission concluded by stating how adding speed ramps in the vicinity of the old post house would be “a little more than a cosmetic exercise”.
Members of the public are being advised that drawings for the project can be inspected in-person at the Kilmallock Area Office during normal office hours or online here.
Submissions or observations on the proposed plans can be made online at https://mypoint.limerick.ie on or before 5pm on Friday, November 6.
