A SECTION of Limerick's main thoroughfare is closed to traffic during working hours all this week.

Council has advised motorists and other road users that between this Monday, and Friday, October 4, part of O'Connell Avenue will be inaccessible while roadworks take place.

The area will be closed from its junction with Mallow Street to its junction with Barrington Street between 9.15am and 4.30pm each day.

O'Connell Avenue is located at the western end of O'Connell Street, and includes the area around the Daniel O'Connell monument at The Crescent.

Emergency service vehicle access will be maintained at all times.

Other drivers are being advised to make a diversion on their exit and entry to the city.
