Mum-of-three Siobhan Clancy fondly remembered following her passing

POPULAR undertaker Siobhan Clancy has been remembered as someone who “gave everything” to her community of Kilbehenny.

Warm tributes have been paid to the mum-of-three, who died peacefully at her home on the Limerick-Cork border.

She was a funeral director at O'Sullivan's Funeral Home in Kilbehenny.

The crowds at her removal were testament to her popularity in her home parish.

As Limerick Leader local notes correspondent Patrick English noted: “Siobhan had touched the lives of everyone in the wider area. In her profession she was the first person on the scene when a family are at their lowest with the passing of a loved one. She made it easier for everyone with her professionalism and care.”

She raised three sporty children.

One of her daughters Caoimhe, now living in Australia, is a former Limerick ladies footballer, while her other Aoibheann was a member of the Irish ladies soccer team and plays her club games with Shelbourne in Dublin.

Her only son Sean is on the Limerick senior football panel, who are in the last four of the Tailteann Cup.

Inter-county manager Jimmy Lee said his team-mates will rally around the Galtee Gaels man.

“It’s a sad time for the Clancy family. The be-all and end-all is Sean needs to be supported, as does his father and his sisters. The wider Clancy family are first and foremost in our minds,” he said.

Both Galtee Gaels and Shelbourne sent messages of solidarity.

Kilmallock-based undertaker Mike Daffy said: “Everyone was mad about Siobhan. She was a lady. She was kind, compassionate and professional.”

Councillor Deirdre O’Brien, who is based in nearby Mitchelstown watched her children grow up alongside Siobhan’s.

“You could see she gave everything to her community. Kilbehenny was her village. She lived there all her life,” said the Fianna Fail member when contacted by the Leader.

Siobhan, who was laid to rest last week, will be sadly missed by her children, as well as husband Padraig, sister Angela, brothers Liam and Joe, nieces Aoife, Sinead and Cliona, nephews, and her extended family.

May se rest in peace.
