Two cars stolen from Limerick house on same night

GARDAÍ are investigating after two cars were stolen from a Limerick house in the same night.
The incident happened at 3am on Wednesday, December 13 at a property on Church Road, Raheen.
Thieves forced their way into the house and stole two sets of car keys belonging to the owners of the house.
The thieves then used the two sets of car keys to steal both cars that were parked outside. One was a silver Volkswagen Sharan and the second was a silver Volkswagen Passat. Neither car has been recovered.
Anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí at Roxboro Road on 061 214340.
Garda John Finnerty from Henry Street issued advice to home owners on how to protect their properties from burglars.
"Recent trends suggest that thieves are breaking into houses specifically to steal the car keys of cars that they want to target.
"Once they have the car keys they have no difficulty in stealing the car that is parked outside.
"We would advise all car owners not to leave their car keys where they could be easily accessible to criminals in the event of a burglary.
"When retiring for the night bring the car keys upstairs with you. Lock them away securely.
"Don’t make it easy for criminals. Take as many crime prevention precautions as you can. We have further information on all crime prevention initiatives on our website at Garda.ie".
