Warning to tradesmen following theft of tools from Limerick construction site

GARDAI are appealing to tradesmen to be vigilant with their tools following a number of recent theft incidents in Limerick.
In one incident, earlier this week, November, property belonging to a a 25-year-old old man from County Tipperary was stolen while he was working on a building site in Limerick city centre.
"He put down his toolbox containing various tools at around 7am when he began work. When he returned to it at 11am, somebody had taken it. This young man’s livelihood depends on his tools but it will cost him €1,200 to replace them," said divisional crime prevention officer Sergeant Ber Leetch.
The garda advice is to tradesmen is to keep your tools either locked away or within your sight at all times.
"Each tool can be marked with the owners Eircode, this makes it a unique marking and easy to identify if it is recovered by gardai," said Sgt Leetch.
Gardai say Criminals tend to avoid any item that is clearly marked because it is more difficult to sell on.
It is likely, the stolen tools will be offered for sale in the coming weeks by the criminals so members of the public who are offered tools in a suspicious circumstance are being urged to keep in mind that they may be buying stolen property.
