Mark Kehoe came off through injury at half-time in the win over Westmeath

Tipperary boss Liam Cahill eased concerns after the league clash with Westmeath in FBD Semple Stadium on Saturday after Mark Kehoe was withdrawn at half-time due to injury.

Concerns would have been heightened when the Kilsheelan Kilcash man didn't reappear for the second half after a terrific performance in the first period, scoring 2-1 with two lovely finishes for his goals.

However, despite concerns it seems that the withdrawal of the elusive forward was mostly a precautionary measure with Tipperary boss Cahill seemingly taking no chances at this stage of the league, given the recent injuries sustained by Bryan O'Mara and Jake Morris against Galway in the previous round.

“It was just precautionary really with Mark,” he assured the reporters.

“He did jar his knee and whilst we would be confident there was no damage done, we were just happy to get him out of there when he was feeling it a little bit," he added.

He had some good news on the status of Cathal Barrett after the game also. Barrett is one of the only regulars and experienced players yet to be used so far in the league with the Holycross Ballycahill man being eased back into the action and Cahill revealed that Tipp supporters can expect to see Barrett before the end of the group stages of the league.

“He’s nearly ready. Today was just a little bit too soon for him but I would be very hopeful that we’ll see Cathal Barrett, if not in the next league match, definitely for the Antrim game."
