What do you think?

A county councillor has hit back over what he claims is an "unfair" column printed in The Nationalist on traffic issues in Tipperary Town.

Cllr Michael Fitzgerald posted on social media and said: "I was surprised to read in this week's edition of the Nationalist Newspaper an article headed "Tipp Town is one of the worst places in all of Ireland to drive through" and what surprised me more is that this headline was written by the Regional Editor of the paper.

"A bit unfair I would say when you consider all the good work that is going on, by voluntary and elected people in Tipp Town to make a difference and help promote the town as an industrial and tourist destination.

"There are huge traffic issues in Tipperary Town, there are traffic issues in every town, and OK, resolutions are not being found fast enough but they are being explored and debated by the council, the Chamber, the Task Force, and many more bodies to try and make the situation work, until the Town is By-Passed.

"To describe it as a disaster, a nightmare, a disgrace during a Saturday drive to Kilmallock, which by the way you don't have to go through the town to get to, was I felt sending a very negative picture of our town by the Editor of one of our best newspapers that will be read, by so many people all over the world.

"My two colleagues from the town as well as the other nine members on the Council constantly promote and try to find solutions as do so many others involved in a voluntary capacity within the town.

"Let's talk about the good for a change that is happening and not reverting to the 1990s."
